Internal Conversations

Internal Conversations

Internal Conversations is a growing, living exhibition that I have built on three areas of my dynamic, evolving work. I am calling to the African and Caribbean female community across Britain to gather and engage in dialogue through the media of visual interviews, fostered conversations, photography, academic insight, film and performance. Participant and audience feedback alongside academic reflections will be respond to the work as it grows into an exhibition that will take place in three years.

This work also positions the emotive landscape of African and Caribbean women across Britain to share their stories with each other. The creative documenting will inform and engage a broad audience giving insight to the power and paralysis of memory.

The growing exhibition is formed from an integration of:

  • She’s Home – Writings from a non-fiction testimony, giving insight into how fragile life was and is for African immigrants in the UK.
  • Strength Wey Past Strength – Visual interviews of elder African born women living in Britain shared through audio, photography and prose.
  • Circles of Conversation – African and Caribbean women in-talking. Documented and shared through film, photography and performance.
